Services for Children of All Ages
Mini Minyan (Ages 2-6) 11:00 am – 11:45 noon Song, prayer,Torah stories and puppet plays make Shabbat special for our young families. Led by many talented congregants, children learn Torah stories from a special picture Torah Scroll. Child(ren) must be accompanied by parent or caregiver. Kehillah Kids (1st–3rd grade) 11:00 am – 11:45 am During the second half of the year, Vav (6th grade) class students are called to the Torah to chant a short verse. This special aliyah helps our students prepare for their upcoming Bar/Bat Mitzvah. It is a wonderful experience shared by the entire family. Tefillah Troupe (4th–6th grade) 11:00 am – 11:45 am Students lead the majority of the prayers and occasionally read from the Torah. Emphasis is on honing skills with a focus on kavannah (intention) and competence. Minyan Makers (7th grade) 9:15 am - 12:00 pm, A transtional period from youth services to congregational services. We hope to nuture a connection and positive experience of communal prayer that will inspire a lifetime of Shabbat prayer. Opportunities to lead parts of the service as well as present short teachings. (We expect all students to attend a minimum of 1 ˝ hrs. of this service with the hope that students will increase their time as the year progresses.) At least one parent should accompany their child at services. Zayin class may include b’nai mitzvot celebrated at other synagogues. All Children (2–12 years) 11:45 am - 12:00 pm, in the Sanctuary to lead concluding prayers. High Holiday Young Childrens Services (Ages 2-7) Rosh Hashanah 11:00 am - 12:00 noon Yom Kippur 11:15 am - 12:15 pm Led by Treasure and Rich Cohen. In a warm and loving setting, young children and their families are introduced to the Jewish High Holy Days through songs, prayers, puppets, stories, and special surprises. Snacks are provided for young children after services on all days. Supervised child care for ages 2-7 available in the Thelma K. Reisman Preschool wing beginning at 10:00 am on all days, as well as Kol Nidre and Neilah/Yom Kippur night. Please call the Beth El office for more information and exact times. Questions?
